Poppy Hapalopus

Hi, welcome! My name is Poppy Hapalopus and you've somehow found my personal website :)

I'm alterhuman (bison/Ben 10/gnoll otherkind, unicorn/Tarzan/spider otherhearted), which is probably what most of my writings will be about.

Other than alterhumanity, I'm interested in bugs, animal husbandry, Scandinavian folklore, and kitsch collecting.

2025/05/13: Added my Avatar and Ben 10 collections :D

2025/04/28: Unsure if it'll come to anything, but I've started a little choose your own adventure game for my fictional world, the Rootspan. Check it out here! I've also started writing about my favorite species from that world, the hrihriwa, here.

2024/09/12: Did some digging into the history of the Danish otherkin (and otherkin-adjacent) communities. Click here to read!

2024/08/11: Finished the introductory classes to zookeeping and moved into my first real apartment! No more dorm rooms for me!!! Now I just gotta find a zoo that'll take me on as an apprentice so I can take the rest of the classes. Wish me luck!

2024/09/10: Thought I was gonna spend the summer adding and editing stuff on my site but oops! I applied to zookeeper school, got in, and spent all summer preparing. Currently busy feeding monkeys and parrots :D

2024/06/14: New essay - ruminations on undesired changes I've gone through in the past year :')

2024/03/01: I'm still alive, I just had to finish my studies - guess who finally has a degree in Animal Science! :D

2023/10/22: The site has a library and a site map now!

2023/08/24: New essay up about bison migrations, from a bison's perspective (note: I'm not a bovologist, so don't take this as scientific fact about bison psychology or behavior - I am a bison, though, so at least give it a chance before dismissing it as bull ;))

2023/06/22: After 5 years I finally wrote a definition for "paratype"!!

2023/06/19: Finished my mealworm thesis and found the time to write a new alterhuman essay :D

2023/04/26: I should be writing a summary of mealworm reproductive behavior for uni, instead I started posting my Bella Sara collection here. Oops! Also I'm really bad at remembering to update this logbook, sorry :P

2023/03/20: Started working on the library and noematapedia
